We have compiled a catalog of South Walton Beaches, listed geographically from west to east.

Miramar Beach

Located next to Destin, Miramar Beach takes on much of that city’s look and feel, with an abundance of high-rise condominiums and shopping along US 98. It boasts scenic beach roads, classic surf shops, and fabulous restaurants like Bistro Bijoux, a hidden gem with top-class cuisine. Despite its nostalgic vibe, Miramar Beach features ultra-modern amenities. Beachfront homes, resorts, and condos are all options for accommodations.

Activities within the neighborhood include Jet Ski rentals, parasailing, and shopping galore at one of the nation’s largest designer outlet centers, Silver Sands Premium Outlets.

Sandestin

Sandestin is the largest resort destination in South Walton. It features miles of pristine beaches and a number of championship golf courses, high-rise condos, rental homes, as well as a vast array of dining, retail, and entertainment options. It offers approximately 1,600 accommodations to choose from. This 2,400-acre property is also home to 15 world-class tennis courts, 19 swimming pools, and a 113-slip marina. Santa Rosa Beach

Santa Rosa Beach is geographically the largest beach neighborhood in South Walton, touching both the Choctawhatchee Bay to the north and the Gulf of Mexico to the south and stretching from Sandestin to Inlet Beach. Whether you want to shop, eat, lounge on the beach, or paddleboard and bike, a stay in this beach neighborhood has you covered.

Not only is this beach neighborhood bustling with activity, but it’s also full of history. Originally founded in 1910 along Hogtown Bayou, Santa Rosa Beach is home to the historic community of Point Washington where you’ll find the Wesley Mansion, built in the 1890s in what is now Eden Gardens State Park.

Blue Mountain Beach

With an elevation of 65 feet above sea level, Blue Mountain Beach is the highest point in all of South Walton. This quiet beach paradise was named for the Lupin flowers that bloom along its coast, which create a stunning contrast to the sugary white beach. Two rare coastal dune lakes, Draper Lake and Big Red Fish Lake, complete this heavenly setting.

Blue Mountain Beach is one of the least populated beaches along Scenic Highway 30A, and it radiates a low-key and laid-back atmosphere. The small-town atmosphere fuses with the elegance and luxury of the Emerald Coast. The Grayton Beach dune trail is one of the most scenic in the area, circling sand dunes, skirting the coastal dune lake, and cutting right through a dense scrub hammock. With the public dock on scenic Western Lake, kayaking or canoeing offers great exploring opportunities.  A list of Walton County beaches would not be complete without it.

Ocean Reef has it’s own Destin Beach cam ocean reef camera with views of the Gulf of Mexico, here along the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach. This new, state-of-the-art Destin Beach webcam, has been installed by Ocean Reef Resorts near the Majestic Sun on Scenic Gulf Drive. The views are towards the southwest with the towers of Destin in the background. Guests and visitors can check out live beach conditions whenever desired. You will notice that the colors in the water vary from day to day depending upon the degree of sunshine and the sun’s position in the sky. Waves vary too from the rare still calms to giant waves when storms are looming off the coast. Due to the camera’s positioning, you will also see the sun setting over the Gulf waters during the winter months, which is awesome!

Destin Beach Cam

What is Destin beach famous for?

The “world’s luckiest fishing village” rests in Destin, Fla., on the Gulf of Mexico. The small town is fortunate for its sugar-white sand and emerald-hued water, which attracts a lot of wildlife, including sharks. Destin is also known for its great fishing.

Is Destin or Panama City better?

Destin is an upscale destination and especially Destin Commons has the best stores for shopping. Panama City Beach is a little less upscale but still beautiful.

Is Destin a party town?

Destin is fortunate to have a wide variety of bars and nightlife that are all within close walking distance.

5 Fort Walton Beach Cam Views on One Page

Not just one Fort Walton Beach cam.  We found several super useful webcams when visiting Fort Walton Beach.  We thought it would be cool if we could find all the best webcams around Fort Walton Beach and put them in one place.

We found some great ones!  Of course, we found several Fort Walton Beach cams of the actual surf and beach. But we also found some webcams around hotels, resorts and even traffic cams.  Outside the Wyndham Garden, Emerald Grande, The Breakers and rounded it out with a weather tracker.  We have it all right here!  Another high quality view can be found here.

This webcam view is provided from the Emerald Grand at Harborwalk Village.  You get a get a birds-eye view LIVE along 98 that stretches all the way to Okaloosa Island and Fort Walton Beach. And on clear days, you can see all the way to Navarre Beach!  You can check out the traffic as well as view sunsets, summer fireworks, fishing competitions, boat parades.  You get a real-time look at traffic going to Destin from Ft Walton.

To look at live traffic patterns we found this Fort Walton Beach Traffic Map helpful or the embedded Waze interactive map below.

 Fort Walton Beach Weather Cam

Ok, this isn’t exactly a live camera, but it is a great representation of the weather in the Fort Walton Beach area.  If you click in the upper right hand corner there are a bunch of additional cool options to plan your day.  If the weather isn’t clear from the other Fort Walton Beach cam views then this should help.

Fort Walton Webcam at The Crab Trap

The Crab Trap – Okaloosa Island, FL

The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island is an iconic spot, acting as the last landmark as you drive from Fort Walton Beach into Destin. Full of colorful restaurants, shops, and incredible views, The Boardwalk is the perfect place to spend a day at the beach.

The Crab Trap happens to be one of the local and tourist staple restaurants located right on The Boardwalk in Newman Brackin Park. This beachfront restaurant in Fort Walton Beach is a busy hangout without outdoor tables, a children’s playground area, a full seafood menu, and a view you have to see to believe…

Spot a dolphin cruising through the waves and vacationers playing a round of volleyball. Speaking of, this spot is home to a number of professional volleyball tournaments throughout the year as well as cheer competitions. The Crab Trap is also just minutes away from some of the most luxurious beach homes, like Bella Riva 108.

Needless to say, The Crab Trap on Okaloosa Island epitomizes coastal living.
